Machines Protection Plan iPad and Mac Disclosure Sheet and FAQ

Product: Machines Accidental Damage Cover Date Issued: 8th May 2020

  1. What is this product about?
    (a)  This policy provides cover against repair or replacement costs to tablets, notebooks or desktops that are accidentally damaged.
    (b)  This 2 year cover is made available to all eligible customers of Machines Sdn Bhd who purchase a tablet, notebook or desktop  from Machines Sdn Bhd for their own personal use.
  2. How much premium do I have to pay?
    This is an insurance plan arranged by Machines Sdn Bhd with AIG Malaysia Insurance Berhad which provides insurance benefits for the eligible customers of Machines Sdn Bhd. The premium will be paid for by Machines Sdn Bhd.
  3. What Machines products would be eligible for cover under this policy?
    This policy will only be made available upon purchase of a tablet, notebook or desktop which:
    (a)  Is new and purchased from Machines Sdn Bhd; and
    (b)  Included at the time of purchase, the manufacturer’s complete and original warranty which is valid in Malaysia.
  4. What are the fees and charges that I have to pay?
    (a) A fee (deductible) is payable upon each and every claim made as follows:

5. What are some of the key terms and conditions that I should be aware of? 
(a) Duty of disclosure:
(i) You also have a duty to inform us or Machines Sdn Bhd of any change in the information provided earlier before Machines Sdn Bhd issues the certificate to you. If you don’t, your certificate may be cancelled, or treated as if it never existed, or your claim may be rejected or not fully paid.
(b) Claims:
(i) All claims must be made in writing and submitted to Machines Sdn Bhd within 30 calendar days from the date your Machines product is accidentally damaged.
(ii) All supporting documents proving the loss must also be submitted to Machines Sdn Bhd within 30 calendar days from the date your Machines product is accidentally damaged. If this is not reasonably possible, proof of loss must be furnished as soon as possible and in any event, no later than 3 months from the date your Machines product is accidentally damaged.
(c) Limits of Liability:
(i)  You are only entitled to one claim throughout the duration that this policy is in force.
(ii)  Once a claim is made and fulfilled, the coverage for your Machines product under this policy will be automatically terminated without any action by any party and you will no longer have any right to claim for your Machines product under this policy.
(iii)  We will at our sole discretion pay for the cost to repair or replace your Machines product, up to an amount not exceeding the price paid for your Machines product.
(iv)  In cases where we approve a replacement of any Machines product covered under this policy, the replacement may:
- be a different model;
- not include the identical features and functions as the damaged Machines product; or
- be another of like kind, quality and specifications.
(d) Transfer:
This cover is issued to the person named in the certificate. Any change to this name requires a written notice to Machines Sdn Bhd requesting for this change and our approval.

  1. What are the major exclusions under this policy?
    (a)  Losses that do not occur within the coverage period;
    (b)  Losses caused by illegal acts committed by yourself;
    (c)  Losses that are intentionally caused by yourself;
    (d)  Repairs performed by any repairer which is not authorized by us;
    (e)  Liability to anyone other than yourself;
    (f)  Any defects that are subject to recall by the manufacturer;
    (g)  Non-operating and cosmetic items, paint, or product finish, accessories used in or with the eligible Machines product, cables, cords, straps, chargers, screen protectors, earphones, add-on options incorporated in a Machines product for which options are not essential to the basic function of the Machines product;
    (h)  Unauthorized modifications made to the Machines product and/or problems/defects arising from such unauthorized modifications; altered serial/IMEI numbers; failure to follow manufacturers’ instructions on installation, operation or maintenance; any items not affecting the function of the Machines product; image burn;
    (i)  Any loss that is covered under the manufacturer’s warranty; and
    (j)  Commercial/business use (multi-user organizations), public rental or use for profit.
    Note: This list is non-exhaustive. Please refer to the policy schedule for the full list of exclusions under this policy. 

  2. Can I cancel my certificate?
    (a)  You may cancel your certificate by returning the original certificate to Machines Sdn Bhd. The date of cancellation will be the date of receipt of the cancelled certificate.
    (b)  We can cancel this certificate by giving you or Machines Sdn Bhd 30 days’ prior written notice. Your cover will continue for the duration which premium has been received and will terminate upon expiry of such period.
    (c)  No refund will be payable upon cancellation of certificate.
